Essential

csrftoken (penracourses.org.uk) Provides a degree of protection against Cross Site Request Forgery (CSRF). See https://owasp.org/www-community/attacks/csrf
sessionid (penracourses.org.uk) Stores the unique user session id. This is required to allow authenticated access to the site. It is not used to track the user (other than for purposes directly required for site functionality, e.g. saving exam / packet results and personal lists).
